Kimolepakko
Harvinainen kimolepakko (Vespertilio murinus) on Vuoksella syysvieras Luoteis-Venäjältä tai
Virosta. Se saalistaa mielellään hyönteisiä korkealla joen yllä laajoja kaarroksia lentäen. Nimensä
tämä omaperäisen näköinen lepakkolaji on saanut hevosen turkin harmaan tai jopa valkoisen
värimuodon, kimon, mukaan: selkäpuolen karvojen hopeanharmaiden kärkien vuoksi turkki on
ikään kuin huurteessa tai tyylikkäästi harmaantunut
Parti-coloured Bat
Parti-coloured Bat (Vespertilio murinus) is a rare autumn visitor around river Vuoksi. Individuals
arriving most likely from Northwest Russia or Estonia are usually observed hunting insects and
flying large circles high over the river. It's characteristically coloured silvery fur looks as if frosty
or stylishly hoary. The Finnish name of the Parti-coloured Bat is derived from the grey colour
morph (gray) of some horses.
